If you are planning a new bathroom in Farnham, you want one team who can take care of the whole thing properly, from the first sketch to the last bit of grout. That is exactly what we do. Gary James Bathrooms designs and fits complete bathrooms across Farnham and the wider Surrey and Hampshire area, and every job is handled start to finish by our own full-time team. We are not a showroom and we are not a franchise. We are a small, hands-on company led by Gary, a bathroom planner and installer with over 20 years of experience.
Farnham is a lovely place to own a home, and the houses here are wonderfully varied. You might have a Georgian townhouse near Castle Street or West Street, an Arts and Crafts home in Great Austins, a Victorian terrace, a character cottage, or a newer family house out towards Upper Hale or Badshot Lea. Older properties in particular tend to throw up surprises once you open the floor up, so it pays to have a team that has seen it all before and knows how to deal with it without any fuss.
When you work with us you deal with the same people throughout. The team turns up uniformed and in company vans, they treat your home with respect, and they keep you in the loop at every stage. We bring in trusted specialists where a job genuinely calls for one, but the planning, the build and the finish all sit with us. That is how we keep the standard high and the work joined up, and it is why so much of our work in Farnham comes from people who were recommended to us.

We cover the whole of Farnham and the surrounding area, including the town centre and the streets around Castle Street and West Street, plus Great Austins, Upper Hale, Lower Hale, Heath End, Weybourne, Badshot Lea and The Bourne. That takes in the main Farnham postcodes of GU9 and GU10, so wherever you are in town there is a good chance we are already working close by.
We also look after the villages that ring the town, including Wrecclesham, Rowledge, Tilford, Frensham, Churt, Dippenhall, Runfold, The Sands, Seale and out towards Crondall and Ewshot. These are mostly GU10 addresses and often older or larger homes where a bathroom renovation needs a careful, considered approach. If you are not sure whether your address is one we cover, just give us a call and we will let you know straight away.
In Farnham, people come to us as their local bathroom company rather than a list of separate trades. We are plumbers, bathroom fitters, bathroom installers and bathroom planners, all under one roof. From the first bathroom design to a brand new bathroom or a tucked-away ensuite bathroom installation, you deal with one team from start to finish.
A full bathroom renovation with us means we take care of everything. We start with a complete strip-out and remove all the waste, then we lift the old floorboards so we have proper access to the pipes, wastes and electrics underneath. Once the work below is done we fit new tongue-and-groove pine floorboards and top them with tile backer board, so you are building the new bathroom on a solid, stable base rather than over old timber that has had its day.
Because one team does the lot, there is no waiting around for separate trades to turn up and no finger-pointing if something needs sorting. We plumb it, wire it, waterproof it, tile it and fit it, and we leave you with a finished room that works beautifully and is built to last. Every bathroom we do is designed around your room, your home and the way you actually live. Gary will sit down with you, measure up, and plan a layout that makes the most of the space you have, whether that is a compact family bathroom in a Farnham terrace or a generous space in a larger village home. We think about where the light falls, how the door swings, where the storage goes and how it will all feel to use day to day.
This matters even more in Farnham's older and period properties, where walls are rarely square and floors are rarely level. Rather than fighting the building, we design with it, so the finished bathroom looks like it was always meant to be there. You get a clear plan before any work starts, so there are no surprises and you know exactly what you are getting.
Once the room is cleared, the first fix is where the quality of a bathroom is really decided, even though most of it ends up hidden. Our first fix plumbing uses concealed pipework run neatly out of sight, WRAS-approved fittings and McAlpine waste fittings, so the things you never see are every bit as good as the things you do. Getting this right is what keeps a bathroom quiet, leak-free and reliable for years.
The first fix electrics are planned and compliant from the start, with proper provision for lighting, electric towel rails and anything else your design calls for. By planning the plumbing and electrics together at this stage, we avoid the bodges and compromises that show up later in bathrooms where the trades never really talked to each other.
Water is the thing that ruins bathrooms, so we take waterproofing seriously. We use 100% waterproof tile backer boards on both the floor and the walls rather than plasterboard, build in the shower tray or bath, and fully tank every wet zone so it is completely waterproof before a single tile goes on. It is extra work that you will never see, but it is the difference between a bathroom that stays sound and one that causes problems down the line.
For the tiling we import tiles directly from trusted manufacturers in Spain, typically 600x600mm rectified porcelain, and fix them with S1 flexible adhesive and a hybrid resin and cement grout. The result is crisp, narrow grout lines and a finish that looks clean and considered. This is the part most people notice first, so it is well worth getting right.
The fittings are where a bathroom comes together, and we fit quality kit as standard. That means Grohe close-coupled toilets, Grohe bar mixers and bath and shower mixers, and tailored vanity basin units finished with Grohe taps. We also fit chrome electric towel rails, so the room is warm and your towels are dry when you want them.
These are the parts you touch and use every single day, so they need to feel right as well as look right. We help you choose pieces that suit your room and your budget, then fit them carefully so everything lines up, sits level and works as it should.
Whatever shape your project takes, we have done it before. We fit walk-in showers, freestanding baths, ensuite bathrooms, full family bathrooms and underfloor heating, and we are happy to combine these into one scheme if that is what your home needs. A walk-in shower can transform a tired ensuite, while underfloor heating makes a real difference on a cold Farnham morning.
If you are weighing up a single room or a couple of bathrooms across the house, talk it through with us. We will give you an honest view on what will work, what it involves and how we would approach it, all explained clearly with no pressure.
A new bathroom is a big job and a big investment, so it is worth choosing a team you can trust to do it properly. Here is what you get when you choose us, and you can read more about how we work on our step-by-step process.

Yes. As well as the town centre and areas like Upper Hale, Heath End and Badshot Lea, we work across Wrecclesham, Rowledge, Tilford, Frensham, Churt and the other villages in GU9 and GU10. If you are unsure whether we cover your address, just call and ask.
Most complete bathrooms take a few weeks from strip-out to finish, depending on the size of the room and the work involved. Older Farnham properties can take a little longer once floors are lifted and we see what is underneath. We will give you a realistic timescale with your quote.
